umbraeimmortalis:

Elena stared at Stefan; her eyes were as wide as her agape mouth and shock seemed to absorb her body. She didn’t expect to see him, especially not so soon. The vampire looked upon her with an expression that Elena found uncomfortably readable. is lips were pursed and it definitely didn’t signify that he was happy to see her. She inhaled sharply, pressing her lips together into a small, albeit undeniably forced, smile.

The doppelganger stepped back, inviting the Salvatore into his own home. His words hit her ears like knives. ❝ No      uh      he didn’t mention it. ❞ She replied, nearly tripping over her words as she shut the door behind her. ❝ Damon’s in Chicago… He wasn’t going to leave, but I told him to go. ❞

Elena internally scolded herself for defending Damon’s absence. She didn’t have to defend him. After all, she wasn’t a child. She could manage without his supervision just as well as any other adult; perhaps better than some. She swallowed her thoughts back down and attempted to release herself from the surprise that arrested her mind.

The brunette turned, steps leading back to the living room, and attempted to control her breathing well enough to slow down her rapidly beating heart. Her head was fuzzy and confused from the shock of seeing Stefan. Yet, when he spoke again, she stopped dead in her tracks. Her tongue darted out to wet her trembling lips before she spoke: ❝ Out of anyone, Stefan… I shouldn’t have to explain it to you. ❞ Elena turned back to face him, ❝ You were the person who wanted me to take the cure, in the first place. Remember? ❞

Of course he left her alone, completely and utterly careless about anything that could’ve happened before Stefan came around. Elena was human      there wasn’t quite a possibility for her to protect herself if anything has been about to happen. Yet, Stefan’d not known about his brother’s trip as Damon didn’t seem to care enough to share. Typical, probably one could’ve said, but after so much time Stefan still wasn’t really used to it. At least not as much as he should’ve been by now.

❝       Risky,❞ Stefan’s brows wiggled, but eyes still narrowed and locked on Elena. Damon cared about her, that was clear, and most of time Stefan was unable to understand ways of his caring, but as long as the girl was safe, things were fine. Not altogether, just anywise. ❝Have you at least considered what would’ve happened if Klaus found out you’re human again and I wasn’t here yet?❞

Enduringly, his green eyeballs started to discover all the abilities and incompetence of her brought-back human nature. Her body changed a little      and that was expected probably. Her moves were different, her eyes also. The way she walked, the way she talked.. it was all different somehow, albeit normal human wouldn’t have noticed, perhaps.

Head lifted up, he bit his down lip meanwhile listening to her. She was right indeed. He did want her to become human again and enjoy it’s aspects of life, but then he didn’t want her to be in such danger once more.

                  ❝       I do,❞ he admitted, nodding.
❝I’m.. sort of happy you’ve listened to me, but on the other hand I don’t think that you, uh..❞ Stefan paused, prospecting his head for the right words. ❝Fell too deep into advantages of this life, forgetting about all of disadventages. And in your case, there are lots of ‘em.❞
